The KFL Expert System

The Kidney for Life Expert System delivers eplet mismatch information into clinicians’ hands very early in the donation/transplant process, before a patient and a potential donor commit to direct donation.

The goal is to educate the patient and donor on their eplet mismatch and determine if the patient can benefit from a better match (lower eplet mismatch).

The KFL Expert System is integrated into the center’s DASH system and streamlines the process of sending a cheek swab, collecting the DNA sample, analyzing the high resolution typing, and providing detailed eplet mismatch results for a patient and their potential donor.
